a bit about me

I am a poet, dancer, quilt-maker, curator and community organizer, doing my part in the greater human project of evolution by making spaces for people to come together and MAKE.

I try to pay attention to the world around and within me.

Here: some reports from the field.

Ode to an Ordinary Moment

oh first green things:
you are the dearest
to me now,
having traveled so far
from ever hidden
to finally here.

As a way to celebrate National Poetry Month, and also re-ignite my own writing practice, I am committing to write a poem every day in April.  I'm calling the series "Ode to an Ordinary Moment."  The idea is to tune my attention to the tiny, to the every day, to whatever's right under my nose. I'll post them here, but you can follow along as well on Instagram (#odetoanordinarymoment).

Happy Poetry Month!

Ode to an Ordinary Moment

dear way the wind takes
the sky end of trees:
you remind me
i am small.
and also, how beautiful
are bodies in unison.

Ode to an Ordinary Moment

dear windows
on the first warm day:
all winter long
we longed to throw
you open.
not just lift, but throw.
as in casting off
every last grip
of winter's stale
encumbrance.

Ode to an Ordinary Moment

dear time it takes the fog
to make the backyard
disappear:
i see your flush of metaphor
and raise you
this wide bowl
of bright and tiny clementines.
